Firstly... ABOUT DANCING?

Did you know that, according to research, dancing is one of the best ways to get fit and keep fit? It's a fact, dancing makes you happy. It can rejuvenate the whole body from your mind and soul, all the way to your immune system. It increases the production of endorphins in the brain and the chemicals that create a state of happiness. Dancing can help develop body image, your self-esteem, increase feelings of wellbeing, improve metabolism and digestion. Dancing strengthens the immune system, regulates blood sugar levels, increases blood flow, helps tone muscles, improving posture, flexibility and, as a weight bearing exercise, it can help reduce the risk of osteoporosis by putting a strain on your bones encouraging them to remain strong and dense. And all that while shifting a few pounds too along the way as excess calories are shed during regular hourly sessions!
So... WITH THAT IN MIND!
And a wish to get others involved in dance, DanceFit was born! Our objective is to provide 'dance for fitness' courses that progress further than just 10 weeks, learning more than just one routine to ALL types of music making dance fun and informal while emphasising the huge health benefits of and its use as a way for keeping fit. In addition, DanceFit will take a further step by having special follow-on social dance or party nights.
About Lisa M
Lisa has always liked to dance but never attended any type of formal training as a child. However, as an adult, in 1993, she tried a class in 'the craze at the time' line dance and was immediately hooked. It felt great to dance! Soon dancing became a passion and an integral part of her life, leading to lots of practice and successful local competitions. Very quickly, Lisa gained experience and training in the proper technique expected and required to compete at a top level, which covered such dance diciplines as Cha Cha, Rumba, Waltz, Night Club Two, Country Two-Step, East & West Coast Swing, Hip Hop, Salsa, to name a few.
To support her goals in achieving the several successes she had competing for and at the UCWDC World Dance Championships since 1999 (the first to do so from Ireland AND first in Ireland to win various championships), she began to teach informally.
Encouraged, due to her growing achievements, Lisa tested and passed with distinction the National Dance Teachers Examination in the UK in Novmeber 2003, later becoming a member of and qualified as a Teacher of Dancing with the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) in May 2006.
In 2005, Lisa was hired, trained and briefly taught with another dance company which, realising her own potential and experience, led her to starting her own dance business DanceFit and first course "Latin in Line" in May 2006.
